Eleven year-old Daud, an observant son of the imam of a Brooklyn mosque, has to juggle his father’s high expectations with his own feelings of isolation from his peers. Through an innocent act of good faith, Daud befriends a group of young Yeshiva students who assume he’s a classmate.
A genuine friendship grows between “David” (as the kids know him) and one of the Jewish boys. Unable to resist the joy of a camaraderie that he has never known before, Daud/David is drawn into a complicated dilemma inspired by only good intentions.
